AGUNSA and Gold Fields Strengthen Logistics Partnership to Support the Salares Norte Supply Chain
On the morning of September 1, at the AGUNSA Logistics Center in Lampa, the inauguration and ribbon-cutting ceremony for a new logistics operator service for Gold Fields took place. This milestone marks the beginning of a new chapter in the partnership between the two companies and aims to strengthen the logistics management of Salares Norte, one of Gold Fields’ most significant gold and silver operations worldwide.
This collaboration reaffirms both companies’ commitment to safety, operational excellence, innovation, and the development of logistics solutions that contribute to greater efficiency, traceability, and operational continuity.
The new service enhances a network of strategically located logistics centers, allowing Gold Fields suppliers to deliver cargo in both Santiago and Copiapó, complementing the operations already carried out by the two companies in the Atacama Region.
In this context, Gold Fields highlighted that the launch of this service represents an important step in supporting the growth of Salares Norte and meeting the demands of a large-scale mining operation.
The expansion of the operation requires a world-class logistics supply chain with high standards of safety, traceability, efficiency, and control, all of which are essential to ensuring operational continuity and the timely supply of materials from vendors and suppliers.
“At this stage of consolidation, having a logistics partner such as AGUNSA provides critical support as we continue strengthening our processes. We are focused on optimizing cargo management, improving logistics coordination, and advancing toward the standards required by a world-class mining operation,” said Moisés Aracena, Supply Chain Manager of Gold Fields Chile.
Gold Fields also noted that Salares Norte has become one of the company’s strategic assets globally, increasing the demands on its operational, safety, and logistics processes.
In this regard, Aracena added: “This partnership represents a significant step forward for our operation. From AGUNSA’s perspective, the launch of this operation is seen as a major milestone in the development of its logistics capabilities for the mining industry.
