The study prepared for the terminal is finished

Yesterday, company Terminal del Puerto de Manta (TPM) submitted the studies to build the Passenger Terminal at the pier to the Port Authority.

This facility will be used for the arrival of cruise ship passengers and tourists in the city.

TPM represents AGUNSA, the Chilean company that tendered the international terminal for 40 years.

Over this period, AGUNSA will carry out the modernisation works for USD177.3 million.

One of them is precisely the Passenger Terminal. Its study will be analysed within a month and a half at the latest.

The work will start upon completion of the revision process, said José Recalde, APM manager.

The total cost of the project is USD1.5 million, including the use of local workmanship in its execution.

Other info. AGUNSA’s spokesman Roberto Barriga took the floor and talked about several issues one month after the port was tendered.

Regarding the hiring of personnel, he clarified that 100 employees of the Port Authority were hired due to their skills.

He also put forward that the new hire process will depend on the cargo volume generated at the pier.

Barriga also referred to the relationship with the Cámara Ecuatoriana de Industriales y Procesadores Atuneros (CEIPA) and the Asociación de Atuneros del Ecuador (Atunec), in order to strengthen their links.

The businessman announced that, over the period they have operated with AGUNSA, they have received six vessels to unload 1,390 vehicles, equivalent to 183 cars per hour, exceeding their goal.
